Villa Russiz Collio Friulano, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, 2015
“A few swirls of the glass release alluring aromas of mature pear, bread crust and a whiff of yellow flower. Elegant and savory, the medium-bodied palate doles out ripe yellow apple, lemon zest and a pleasant note of bitter almond while a mineral note adds energy. It's fresh and understated, but it's also delicious and balanced."
"Aromas of lemons and honey with hints of grapefruit and dried peaches. Follows through to a medium body, a tight and dense palate and a racy finish. Lots of tangy fruit. Drink now."
Collio DOC, Italy
Perfectly ripened grapes are hand-harvested during the chilly early hours of the day. The bunches are then quickly carried to the cellar where they are gently pressed. The first must is pumped into temperature controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is kept on its lees for at least 6 months before bottling, 8-9 months after harvest. Alcohol: 13.5% Total acidity: 5.28 g/L Residual sugar: 0.4 g/L
Pale straw yellow with greenish tints and a characteristic note of bitter almonds on the nose. Delicate and refined, soft and round (with slightly lower acidity than the other whites in the range.)
