Dante Rivetti Mara Barbera d'Alba, Piedmont, Italy, 2015
Grape / Blend
Dedicated to the youngest daughter in the Rivetti household, this Barbera presents the variety’s youthful spontaneous, easy-drinking properties in a very special way. The decision to only use steel gives it a flavoursome taste hinting at red currants and railway cherries. Smooth, but very noticeable tannins. Very good finish.
Fresh, lively, and deliciously drinkable, the ’15 Barbera d’Alba Mara bursts from the glass in a profusion of juicy red and blue fruits, licorice, warm loam, cocoa and wildflowers. This wine crackles with Barbera’s trademark acidity, yet for all its energy, it holds an appealing roundness, balancing its elements with a silky feel. Composed of grapes grown on the youngest vines in Bricco di Neive, grapes ferment for eight days in temperature-controlled stainless steel, and the wine ages for ten months in steel followed by two months in bottle before release.
