Terrazze dell'Etna Cratere Terre Siciliane IGP, Sicily, Italy 2010 (Nerello Mascalese)
Overview of the Wine
Nerello Mascalese is a light-bodied red wine that primarily grows on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. Despite its rarity, the wine offers amazing value and a taste profile that’s often likened to fine Pinot Noir.
Terrazze dell’Etna is nature, is passion, is Etna reflecting its unique land in the product: it is the desire to create excellent wines in a place where all is possible.
Nerello Mascalese, is the main grape of the winery, a common thread that binds the entire production.
The company’s logo represents a stylized bunch of grapes: the grapes are very large showing the attention to detail and meaning that every single grape will guarantee a wine of extraordinary quality. The packaging’s colors recall those of the Etna’s landscape: the brown color for the lava’s soil where the vineyards are being grown, the red color for the volcano’s fire, and the white for the volcanic ashes.
The unrivaled result of centuries-old traditions, of the use of modern technologies and of a constant effort to protect the natural local environment, our wine, endowed with a unique personality, is the very essence of a sun-drenched Sicily, full of warmth and passion.
Grape / Blend
Aromas recalling overripe fruit, game and hint of barnyard carry through to the palate, along with whiffs of sage, espresso and black pepper. It's a bit rustic, with astringent tannins.
